On 10 June 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Nguyen Doan Anh, Vice President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in Hanoi, Viet Nam.
During the courtesy call, both sides exchanged views on regional peace and security issues and the role of parliaments in upholding international law, including the principles of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), in support of peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. They also discussed priorities for regional cooperation, including digital transformation, innovation, climate change, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. The discussion further touched upon upcoming AIPA meetings and initiatives, with both sides reaffirming the importance of parliamentary cooperation and contributions to advancing the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
