ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly

6th Model AIPA

The 6th Model ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (Model AIPA) was successfully held in collaboration with Bina Nusantara University on 8–9 October 2026, at the ASEAN Headquarters, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Model AIPA is an immersive simulation of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Assembly, designed to empower young leaders across ASEAN to experience parliamentary diplomacy and discuss regional issues. Participants will take on the roles of delegates representing AIPA Member Parliaments, engaging in debates, drafting resolutions, and experiencing how decisions are shaped through parliamentary diplomacy.

6th Model AIPA Theme: “Navigating ASEAN’s Future: Building a Peaceful, Prosperous, and People-Centred ASEAN”

The 6th Model ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (Model AIPA) was successfully held in collaboration with Bina Nusantara University on 8–9 October 2026, at the ASEAN Headquarters, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Under the theme, “Navigating ASEAN’s Future: Building a Peaceful, Prosperous, and People-Centred ASEAN,” the programme brought together more than 50 young delegates from ASEAN and beyond to take part in an immersive simulation of the AIPA General Assembly.

The 6th Model AIPA also provided an opportunity for youth to exchange ideas, build cross-cultural connections, and gain firsthand experience in the decision-making process of AIPA.

  • To introduce participants to the principles and practices of parliamentary diplomacy and the role of AIPA in fostering regional cooperation among ASEAN Member States.
  • To equip participants with knowledge about key issues affecting the ASEAN region.
  • To develop participants’ abilities in negotiation, public speaking, consensus-building, and decision-making through hands-on simulation exercises.
  • To provide a platform for participants to work together across cultures, simulating real-world parliamentary processes to address regional challenges collaboratively.
  • To cultivate leadership qualities and critical thinking skills among participants, preparing them to engage effectively in complex discussions and policy-making scenarios.
  • To promote intercultural exchange and create opportunities for students to build lasting relationships with peers across ASEAN, fostering a sense of regional unity.
  • To encourage young individuals to take active roles in governance, diplomacy, and leadership within their communities and beyond.
  • To provide an authentic and practical learning experience that bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application in parliamentary and diplomatic contexts.

6th Model AIPA (Main Event)

The 6th Model AIPA will provide an immersive experience of the General Assembly. Participants will take on the roles of chairpersons or delegates representing AIPA Member Parliaments. Throughout the simulation, delegates will engage in discussions on proposed draft resolutions, debate key issues, and negotiate with fellow participants to finalise the resolutions. The simulation will replicate the structure of a real AIPA General Assembly, including plenary sessions, discussion of draft resolutions during standing committee meetings, and adoption of the resolutions. This will allow participants to gain a deeper understanding of regional cooperation, parliamentary diplomacy, and the decision-making process within ASEAN.

Awarding Ceremony (Post-event)

The Model AIPA Distinguished Award will be presented during a special Awarding Ceremony on the final night of the 6th Model AIPA. This ceremony will recognise the most exceptional participants, with categories including Best Delegate and Most Outstanding Delegate.
