On 30 January 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary General of AIPA, received a courtesy call from H.E. Prof. Dr. Talip Küçükcan, Ambassador of Türkiye to the Republic of Indonesia and ASEAN. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening parliamentary diplomacy as a key avenue for addressing increasingly complex global challenges. Discussions explored potential areas for joint initiatives and collaboration, including peace-building, conflict resolution, and climate change, as well as the possibility of exchange visits between the AIPA delegation and the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.

The Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye formally granted observer status to AIPA in 2023 at the 44th AIPA General Assembly in Indonesia. AIPA continues to attach importance to fostering meaningful engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
