On 13 March 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, received a courtesy call by H.E. Ms. Mariann Ruud Hagen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to ASEAN. The meeting underscored a mutual commitment to further strengthening meaningful engagement between AIPA and Norway.

Both sides also exchanged views on key issues, including climate change, energy, women and youth while also highlighting the growing relevance of parliamentary diplomacy in addressing shared global challenges.

The Storting of the Kingdom of Norway was formally granted Observer status by AIPA in 2020 at the 41st AIPA General Assembly, hosted virtually by the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. AIPA continues to place importance on fostering productive engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
