On 19 September 1995, Viet Nam was officially admitted as the sixth member of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Organisation (AIPO), later transformed into the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in 2007, during the 16th AIPO General Assembly, held in Singapore from 18 to 23 September 1995.

Since then, Viet Nam has continued to contribute to advancing parliamentary dialogue, cooperation, and solidarity among ASEAN Member Parliaments, supporting the shared vision of a more united and resilient ASEAN.
