On 19 June 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, attended a breakfast meeting hosted by H.E. Tiffany McDonald, Ambassador of Australia to ASEAN.
The engagement provided a valuable opportunity for both sides to exchange views on issues of mutual interest, share updates on recent meeting and activities, as well as to explore avenues for strengthening meaningful parliamentary cooperation in the future. The occasion also served as a timely opportunity to deepen interregional engagement and reaffirm a shared commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding amid an increasingly complex global environment.
The Parliament of Australia has been granted Observer Status by AIPA in 1979, making it the first and longest-standing Observer Member of AIPA. AIPA continues to attach importance to fostering sustained engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
