Upon the invitation from the Chair and Representative of Indonesia to the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR), the AIPA Deputy Secretary General attended the ASEAN Community Councils Dialogue on Human Rights virtually on 24 August 2023.
On this occasion, the AIPA Deputy Secretary General shared the work of AIPA in implementing the ASEAN Human
Rights Declaration, including the challenges and ways forward.
The ASEAN Human Rights Declaration was adopted in November 2012 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The recently adopted AIPA Strategic Plan 2023-2030 includes protection of human rights as one of priority areas under Strategic Theme 3.
