On 19 February 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, received a Courtesy Call by H.E. Ramil Abil Rzayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Indonesia and ASEAN. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and sustaining meaningful engagement between AIPA and Azerbaijan.
Both sides also exchanged views on key issues, including climate change, artificial intelligence, and maritime, and explored potential avenues to further enhance collaboration and deepen engagement in these areas.
The Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan formally granted observer status to AIPA in 2022 at the 43rd AIPA General Assembly in Cambodia. AIPA continues to place importance on fostering productive engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
