On 18 May 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, received a courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Dan-Adrian Bălănescu, Ambassador of Romania to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN. The meeting served as an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional and global developments.

The discussion also highlighted the growing relevance of parliamentary diplomacy in navigating complex global challenges and exploring avenues for future cooperation in key issues of shared interest including education, digital skills, innovation, climate change and cyber security.
