On 16 February 2026, the House of Representatives of the Philippines convened a necrological service in honor of former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., the only member in its history to have served five terms as Speaker.
The ceremony was led by Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III and brought together former Speakers, senior national leaders, and members of Congress in a rare show of unity, reflecting the enduring influence of Speaker de Venecia across political lines and generations.
Tributes highlighted his leadership during key political and economic transitions, his role in advancing reform initiatives, and his contributions to strengthening parliamentary institutions and international engagement.
