Imagine a world that’s inclusive where each person is recognized and valued of their different circumstances yet allocating the exact resources and opportunities to reach an equal outcome.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is to Embrace Equity. We have seen progression of women in political representation where the global average share of women in parliament has nearly doubled with an increase from almost 15% to 23% between 2006 and 2022 – while the share of Women in ASEAN parliament rose to 22%.

This is very encouraging – However, the world needs more women leaders to inspire the younger generations. The global gender gap has been narrowed but it will still take 132 years to reach full gender parity based on the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2022.

So, are we accelerating fast enough? We need to do more. Let us all fully Embrace Equity and together we can collectively forge an inclusive world.
