From 29 September to 1 October 2026, AIPA participated in the 4th ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit, held under the theme “Women’s Leadership for Inclusive Prosperity in the ASEAN Region” in Manila, the Philippines.
During the Summit, Hon. Ann Matibag, Chairperson of the Women Parliamentarians of AIPA (WAIPA), represented AIPA at the launch of the Study on Women’s Political Participation and Leadership (WPPL) and moderated the 2nd ASEAN–EU Dialogue on Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Girls, with H.E. Maria Rachel J. Arenas, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, delivered a pre-recorded remarks. Ms. Putri Maha Lima, Deputy Secretary-General of AIPA, moderated the session “WPPL: The State of Play in ASEAN and the EU” and served as a panel speaker at the Summit’s session on “Advancing Women’s Representation in Decision-Making, Law, and the Judiciary.”
Through these engagements, AIPA shared its efforts to advance women’s political participation and leadership, including through the WPPL Plan of Action and Implementation Framework 2024–2030, while contributing parliamentary perspectives to regional discussions on women’s representation and leadership.
