On 22 September 2013, the National Parliament of Timor-Leste was granted Observer AIPA Observer Status during the 34th AIPA General Assembly, held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

This significant milestone reflected AIPA’s commitment to strengthening parliamentary dialogue and fostering greater engagement with parliaments beyond its Member Parliaments, promoting mutual understanding and cooperation on issues of shared interest.

As we commemorate this occasion, we reaffirm AIPA’s commitment to building stronger partnerships and advancing parliamentary diplomacy for a more peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous region.
