On 30 April 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ahmed Abdulla Alharmasi Alhajeri, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Republic of Indonesia and ASEAN. The meeting underscored a mutual commitment to further strengthening meaningful engagement between AIPA and Bahrain.
Both sides also highlighted the shared responsibility to maintain peace and uphold international order amid an increasingly complex global landscape. The meeting also served as an opportunity to provide updates on AIPA’s meetings and activities, while also exploring potential avenues in key issues of shared interest.
The Kingdom of Bahrain was formally granted Observer status by AIPA in 2024 at the 45th AIPA General Assembly, held in Lao PDR. AIPA continues to place importance on fostering productive engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
