Under the AIPA Presidency of the House of Representatives of the Republic of the Philippines, the 5th Meeting of the Coordinating Committee of Women Parliamentarians of AIPA (WAIPA) was convened virtually on 27 April 2026.
Held under the theme “Advancing Gender-Transformative Parliaments Towards a Future-Ready and Inclusive ASEAN Community,” the meeting brought together women parliamentarians across AIPA, emphasizing that progress must go beyond representation. It requires transforming systems to be more equitable and accountable, advancing laws that respond to lived realities, and ensuring women’s meaningful participation in decision-making for a future-ready and inclusive ASEAN.
AIPA Member Parliaments also reaffirmed their support for the implementation of the Women’s Political Participation and Leadership (WPPL) Plan of Action 2024–2030, underscoring the importance of monitoring, evaluation, and sustained political will.
