On 13 February 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary General of AIPA received a Courtesy Call from Ms. Yevhenia Shynkarenko, Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine. The meeting underscored a shared commitment to further strengthening engagement between AIPA and Ukraine, particularly through active participation in AIPA Meetings and initiatives. It also provided an opportunity to explore potential cooperation in areas of common priority, including maritime, food security, and digitalisation.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine formally granted observer status to AIPA in 2021 at the 42nd AIPA General Assembly in Brunei Darussalam. AIPA continues to place importance on fostering meaningful engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
