On 6 February 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, received a Courtesy Call from H.E. Evgeny Zagaynov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to ASEAN. The meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment to strengthening productive and meaningful engagement between AIPA and Russia.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation and the shared responsibility to uphold the international order.
The Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation has been an Observer to AIPA since 1991, making it one of AIPA’s earliest Observer Parliaments. AIPA continues to attach importance to fostering sustained engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
