On 5 February 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambra Dickie, Ambassador of Canada to ASEAN. The meeting reaffirmed the importance of continued cooperation and meaningful engagement between AIPA and Canada.
Both sides exchanged views on key issues of shared interest, including climate change, energy transition, and artificial intelligence, and explored potential partnerships ahead of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN–Canada relations in 2027.
The Parliament of Canada has been an Observer to AIPA since 1983, making it one of AIPA’s longest-standing Observers.
