On 18 April 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, delivered a speech on the topic “Nurturing Hope, Securing Peace and Ensuring Justice for Future Generations” at the General Debate of the 152nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Istanbul, Türkiye.

In his speech, he emphasised that parliaments play a vital role in upholding peace, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that development remains people-centred and inclusive for future generations.
