From 1–3 September 2026, the AIPA Secretariat conducted a Capacity Development Programme for the Secretariat of the House of Representatives of the Philippines in preparation for the 47th AIPA General Assembly, in Manila, Philippines.
The capacity development aimed to strengthen the Host Secretariat’s substantive, procedural, and technical capacities, while enhancing coordination with the AIPA Secretariat and supporting effective preparations for the General Assembly. With the participation of Members of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, the programme covered ASEAN’s strategic priorities, parliamentary diplomacy, AIPA’s institutional processes, the preparation of parliamentary documents, and practical exercises on negotiations and General Assembly proceedings.
As part of the programme, a briefing with the Chairpersons of the Committee Meetings was also held to discuss their roles and meeting procedures in facilitating smooth and effective discussions during the General Assembly.
