On 7 July 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Lee Chul, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on evolving global challenges and highlight the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy between AIPA and the Republic of Korea in support of ASEAN Centrality. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing engagement and cooperation between AIPA and the Republic of Korea to promote regional peace, security, and shared prosperity.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea has been granted Observer Status by AIPA in 1979, making it one of AIPA’s longest-standing Observer Parliaments. AIPA continues to place great importance on fostering productive engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
