On 11 August 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, received a courtesy call by Hon. David Gregosz, Member of the German Bundestag, accompanied by Mr. Andreas Klein, Director of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s Regional Programme Political Dialogue Asia (KAS PDA).
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on issues of common interest, including energy, peace and security, and climate change. Both sides also highlighted the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy in navigating an increasingly complex global landscape and geopolitical environment, as well as the importance of upholding the rule of law and the rules-based international order.
The German Bundestag has been granted Observer status by AIPA in 2024, making it among the most recent parliaments to join AIPA in this capacity. AIPA continues to attach importance to fostering sustained engagement with its Observer Parliaments.
