On 22 June 2026, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya, Secretary-General of AIPA, attended the Jakarta Forum 2026 in commemoration of the 5th Anniversary of the ASEAN–China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Special Report Launch, and participated as a panellist in Plenary Session 1, “Strengthen Multilateralism and Jointly Upholding the International Order Based on International Law”, held at the ASEAN Headquarters.
Under the theme “Towards a More Robust and Productive ASEAN–China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to the Greater Benefit of the Region and the World,” the forum brought together high-level representatives from across sectors to reflect on the achievements of ASEAN–China relations and explore opportunities for deeper cooperation in advancing regional peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
During the session, H.E. Dr. Chem Widhya highlighted the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in complementing state diplomacy and strengthening collective resilience in an increasingly complex and evolving global environment. He also underscored the longstanding partnership between AIPA and the National People’s Congress of China in contributing to stronger cooperation and deeper mutual understanding between the two regions.
