The AIPA Secretariat held a Briefing Session for Brunei Darussalam as the next AIPA Secretary General

On Tuesday, 29 March 2022, upon the request from Brunei Darussalam, the AIPA Secretariat conducted a briefing session. Secretary General Nguyen Tuong Van welcomed the leadership of Brunei Darussalam who will assume the position of the next Secretary General of AIPA. Led by the AIPA Secretary General Van, the briefing session provided an overview of current developments of the organization, including the vision and mission, as well as the potential and challenges that the next leadership may encounter. Answering questions from Brunei’s colleagues, Secretary General Van also shared her views on the AIPA-ASEAN relations, roles of AIPA in supporting ASEAN Community 2025, the implementation of AIPA resolutions as well as mechanism for information dissemination on AIPA activities.

As stipulated in the AIPA Statutes, the Secretary General of AIPA is appointed by the President of AIPA with the approval of the General Assembly for a term of three (3) years on a rotational basis and in alphabetical order. The position of AIPA Secretary General that is currently held by Vietnam will be concluded at the upcoming 43rd AIPA General Assembly, and the next leadership will be assumed by Brunei Darussalam.
